After Covid-19 flattened all tires and kept the bikes in their racks last year, the wheels are turning for our summer youth bicycling program at Cimarron and Landfall. Helmets are being adjusted. Air pumps are inflating the tubes. Lubricants are being applied to chains. Routes are being planned. Kids are excited to be together outdoors, to practice their bike mechanic skills, and to start pedaling!
The last time we were able to operate the summer program in 2019, over 55 youth (ages 9-18) participated on rides ranging from 2 miles to 100 miles, and destinations ranging from Minneapolis to Hudson and Afton to Taylors Falls. In all, participants rode over 5,100 miles!
Your help sparks a passion in kids for cycling. Our goal is to raise $17,000 to support a full program at both Landfall & Cimarron. Funds will be used to hire a seasonal adult leader, provide travel snacks and bike gear, and fund a season-ending bike camping trip. (We have submitted a matching grant proposal to Outride.org but its decision has been delayed. In the meantime, we are hopeful that you can get us started!)
Every donation helps as we get kids back to exploring the region, setting fitness goals, and learning responsible bike repair/safety. Donations can be mailed to us at FamilyMeans or donated securely below.
