March 24, 2020

The health and safety of FamilyMeans clients, staff, volunteers, and greater community is a top priority for us. We want to stay connected with you and be transparent about the steps we are taking to do our part to slow the spread of COVID-19. Yet, please be assured that our staff are diligently and creatively modifying ways to continue to be a resource for those who use and will need our services.

At anytime, please visit our website, FamilyMeans.org, and click the button at the top of the homepage titled "COVID-19 Updates". This will give you daily information about programming, site information, and support materials.

We are in this together, support is here.

Caregiving & Aging Stays Connected!

FamilyMeans staff are available for phone/email coaching & consultations to support caregivers during this challenging time.

We are also sending out a weekly email to caregiver clients with resources, activities, and tips they can use in their homes!

Respite Volunteers Use Technology!

Social distancing is preventing our respite volunteers from visiting in-person with care receivers. But, this has not stopped them from spending time with one another! One innovative session came when our volunteer found a movie online and both watched from their separate locations while on the phone together. This provided some fun interaction for the care receiver, and a few hours of respite for the caregiver.

Supporting Youth at Home

FamilyMeans Youth Development sites in Cimarron and Landfall have suspended programming to help prevent the spread of COVID-19. However, staff are still hard at work preparing activities for the youth, ages 5-18, to do at home. Beginning this week, participants can pick up activity kits to help support growth, education, and creativity while in-person programming is postponed.

In addition, our Cimarron site is a meal pick up center for Stillwater Schools. Parents can drive through to pick-up breakfast and lunch sacks for their children while school is out of session. Click the button below for more information on meal distribution.

Mental Health During Time of Crisis

Beginning today, March 24th, FamilyMeans Counseling & Therapy is providing sessions virtually using tele-health technologies. No in-person sessions are being held at this time. We understand the stress, anxiety, depression, and fear that comes along with this crisis and are here to support you.

We have many resources on our website to help bring calm and peace of mind as we work through this crisis. Our newest resource is a printable, daily guide to help your mental health thrive! Click the button below to get started!

School-Based Counselors Check In on Students

The great thing about FamilyMeans School-Based Mental Health is that we provide essential support services to students in the most convenient locations, their schools. However, when schools are not in session, it is more difficult to provide the mental health services so many need. Our counselors have been busy making contact with students to check in and provide options for therapy when school is out through tele-health sessions.

Continuing to support students through these stressful, anxiety producing times is our goal. Parents can help too! Check out our COVID-19 parent resource page for guidance on supporting your child during this time.

Financial Support Services Available Virtually!

FamilyMeans Financial Solutions continues to offer debt & budget counseling and debt management program support by connecting online and through phone sessions. Let us help you to make a plan to strengthen your finances and manage debt!

The Debt Management Program team is ensuring that client payments to creditors are being distributed as scheduled. Clients trusted over $5 million to be processed through FamilyMeans' DMP last year.

Better is possible with your support!

FamilyMeans continues to offer essential services during these uncertain times because of generous donations from our community! Thank you!

Helping a caregiver navigate the support services that are available as he provides care to his aging father.

Supporting the mental health of a single mother who is now juggling working from home, providing in-home school support for her children, and keeping herself healthy.

Providing financial counseling to a restaurant worker who just got laid off.

Enriching the lives of students who are social distancing by providing activity kits.
